- What is crystal?
Crystal glass is glass that is specially made to contain a high amount of lead and lead oxide. This kind of glass is heavier and more brilliant than regular glass due to the high lead content. See the Wikipedia entry on crystal glass.
- Why pay more for Swarovski crystals?
Swarovski® leaded crystal is made in Austria and sets the standard upon which all other stones are measured. They are reknown for their highest quality crystal due to the superior cut and clarity which provides the best possible sparkle and brilliance. They are the Versace of crystals.
- How big are the crystals?
We only offer 3.1mm Swarovski® crystals for the kits, and we include some 2.2mm crystals to help you fill in small gaps. Custom work and pre-Glittered products will mainly use 3.1mm crystals and may include some smaller crystals as well. We never use crystals larger than 3.1mm, see why.
- Why use small crystals?
These are the perfect size. Bigger crystals leave larger noticeable gaps and often give the device a "knobby" look. Although it will take more time and effort to use smaller crystals, we think the final result is well worth it.
- Will my device still fit in its original base after customization?
That depends on the model. If you have concerns please contact us before placing your order. Because adding Glitter to your device adds thickness to it, we cannot guarantee that your product will fit in its charger or base once we have customized it. We never cover anything important and using a cord-based charger that generally comes with these types of products shouldn't be a problem. We can even customize it in such a way that it will fit in a charger or base if you like. Please contact us directly for these kinds of special requests.
- What is your return policy?
For custom work: Because our work is custom made to order, all sales are final.
For all other products: We accept returns for full refund only if the item you received was not as described. For all other reasons, there will be a 15% re-stocking fee. In all cases, the item must be in new unused condition to be eligible for return. Purchaser must notify us within three (3) days of receiving the item and ship the item to us within five (5) days of notification; buyer is responsible for return shipping charges. Eligible refunds will be processed within five (5) business days of receipt of product. If possible, returns should use the original shipping boxes.
- What is your order cancellation policy?
Once placed, to ensure a full refund, orders must be cancelled within 24 hours of placement of order. Once an order has been processed and shipped, cancellation is is no longer possible. For customization work, once we have begun applying crystals to your device, cancellation is not possible.
- What is your shipping policy?
We ship only to credit card billing addresses. Our primary shipping carrier is the United States Postal Service (USPS). For orders of US $50 or more, we offer free USPS First Class shipping anywhere in the United States subject to USPS limitations for the packages we ship. Generally, we cannot ship to a P.O. Box. Insurance, international and expedited USPS shipping like Priority and Express are available as well.
- What if something is backordered or out of stock?
Orders usually take 1-2 business days to process and ship from our office. Some specific items may indicate a slightly longer shipping time. Our website usually reflects the inventory; however, from time to time items in high demand may become backordered. We will notify the buyer within 24 hours if all or part of the order cannot be fulfilled in the estimated shipping time, particiularly when expedited shipping has been ordered. We will generally offer an alternative, an option to wait or an option to cancel the order.
- How long will it take me to Glitter my device?
This really depends on the device, the complexity of your design and your previous experience with similar activities. In our experience, if you've never done this before, when you use 3.1mm crystals, a regular-sized cell phone may take 3-4 hours. Covering a device like the Sidekick 2 in a nice design can easily take 5-8 hours. These projects can be fun to do. Pace yourself and take some breaks. Customers often tell us that the projects take longer than they expected, but the results are worth it.
- How long will it take GlitterRing.com to custom Glitter my device?
Once we receive your product, we will customize and have it back in the mail to you in 2-3 business days, not including any time spent communicating with you on any design or color consultation.
- What happens if crystals come off?
We enclose a small pack of extra crystals with each order in case some comes off.
